HARLEQUINS coach Brian McDermott has conceded for the second time in two weeks that the Giants thoroughly deserved to beat his side.

The former Giants assistant coach was full of praise for Nathan Brown’s men when they secured a 46-6 Super League victory at the Galpharm 15 days ago.

And McDermott was forced to concede his side were unable to match the Giants’ effort for a second time as the Quins were beaten 42-16 at home in the fourth round of the Carnegie Challenge Cup.

“It’s massively disappointing,” he said.

“We got beaten by a better team. Huddersfield showed up and played better than we did.

“They defended very, very well. It’s hard to gain any momentum against the Giants.

“They’ve got some stuff going for them. They are definitely hard to break down.

“We’d all been hoping that after the events of a couple of weeks ago, we’d have been up for this.”
