KEVIN BROWN is confident his renewed half-back partnership with Luke Robinson will take the Giants to new Super League heights.

The talented duo formed a winning combination during their time in Wigan’s Academy.

That familiarity has helped at the Giants following Robinson’s move from Salford during the off-season.

They were quickly into the groove in all three of Huddersfield’s pre-season wins at Hull, Castleford and Batley. And Brown sees no reason why that can’t be transferred onto the Super League stage.

"It’s been fantastic linking up with Luke again, because we’ve been good mates for years," said the 23-year-old.

"I obviously know how to play with Luke after our time at Wigan, and that’s made his settling-in period at the club so much easier.

"There was no need for him to break the ice when he walked in here, because he already knew me and a lot of the other boys as well.

"I’m sure that’s why he looked as

comfortable as he did in our pre-season games. He certainly made an immediate impression with his performance at Hull.

"And I see no reason why that can’t continue in Super League this year. We’re very excited about this season and our chances of doing well again.

"I know there will be a fair bit of pressure on me and Luke to make us tick, but we know we can do it."

That confidence is obviously based on the way Brown has also played in the trial matches.

The former Wigan ace missed the start of pre-season training after undergoing surgery on a shoulder injury.

But he now feels in the shape of his life.

"I think I’ve benefited as much as anyone from playing the pre-season games," he added.

"I felt the surgery had gone well and the shoulder felt strong, but the acid test was always going to be how things went in the games and the physical contact.

"Personally, I couldn’t have been happier.

"Our rehab man, Greg Brown, worked me really hard getting me back to full fitness, including extra sessions on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day!

"At the time, I can’t say I appreciated it that much.

"But I’m glad I did them now. I feel fit, strong and very healthy. I really do feel in the shape of my life and I just can’t wait for the season to get started!"
