CONFIDENT captain Chris Thorman believes the Giants are ready to let Super League battle commence!

The proud Geordie will lead Huddersfield out for the tough opener at Leeds Rhinos on Sunday (3.00).

A trip to face one of the favourites to lift the Super League crown - Leeds are quoted at 9-4 by William Hill bookmakers and the Giants 125-1 - offers a massive first-day challenge.

But the highly-inspirational 25-year-old half-back believes his Giants have what it takes to rise to the occasion.

"Leeds at Headingley is always a special game," said Thorman.

"But this year it's even more special because it's our opening game of the Super League season.

"Because we missed out on the play-offs, we've had to wait a long time to get back on the competitive field, so we're definitely ready to play.

"We know it's going to be tough. You don't expect anything less in Super League whoever you play.

"But we'll obviously go there and give it our very best shot.

"The boys are all excited about going there, and we can't wait to see how we gel.

"We're trained tremendously hard in pre-season. Now it's time to put it all to the test."
