GIANTS coach Jon Sharp today admitted all the gloss has been taken off last night's superb 36-0 pre-season thrashing of Super League rivals Castleford Tigers by a serious injury to top young talent Paul White.
The 21-year-old scrum half suffered a fractured and badly dislocated left leg in the second half of an otherwise highly successful McAlpine clash.
White was immediately rushed to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary to assess the full extent of the damage, leaving Sharp feeling bitterly disappointed for the talented youngster.
"I thought the boys were all fantastic last night, but that doesn't make up for the sense of disappointment we feel for Paul right now," said Sharp.
"He's worked exceptionally hard during the off-season and that was reflected in the way he was playing before he suffered the injury.
"The only consolation is that I know Paul will bounce back from this and be stronger person for it.
"We just hope he's back sooner rather than later, although at this stage it's too soon to say for exactly how long he'll be out."
