GIANTS' broken leg victim Paul White is facing an anxious fortnight before knowing exactly how long he will be sidelined.

The talented scrum half suffered a broken left leg and dislocation during Friday's superb 36-0 thrashing of Super League rivals Castleford Tigers at the McAlpine.

The 21-year-old has now undergone surgery to have a plate and pins inserted into his fibula.

But he has been told it could be up to two weeks before a clear picture emerges as to how the injury is healing.

"Paul's leg is encased in a massive plaster cast right now and will be for some time," explained football manager Stuart Sheard.

"It's only when the cast comes off and the swelling has gone down that we'll know for sure how long he'll be out. It could be two months, it could be four months, we just don't know at this stage.

"But the good thing is that Paul is keeping himself quite cheerful, even though he's still stuck in hospital.

"All the lads have paid him a visit, and the coaching staff have also been to see him.

"He's already been asking how the plans are going for Sunday's game at Leeds, and we obviously intend to keep him informed.

"But you can bet if there's any possible way he could be there, he would."

Giants chairman Ken Davy, meanwhile, will be the Senior Giants' guest speaker at Fartown Supporters Club tomorrow (2.15).
