Leroy Cudjoe will only be happy being named in the Super League Dream Team if the Giants back it up with Grand Final success.

Huddersfield’s England ace is in the reckoning to be picked at centre for the imaginary team of the season voted on by a panel of journalists.

Giants teammates Danny Brough, Eorl Crabtree, Brett Ferres and Shaun Lunt are also in the frame to be included in the Dream Team to be announced on Monday.

The fact Huddersfield have just finished top of Super League for the first time means they’re expected to be well represented in the Team.

And with Cudjoe already named in the Opta team of the season – their selection is based on which players have achieved the most points from a whole range of player statistics, such as tries, try assists, metres made, offloads and tackles completed – it would be a huge disappointment if he were to miss out.

Although the man himself wouldn’t lose any sleep if he were to miss out.

“Getting individual awards isn’t something I really think about,” said the ever-present Cudjoe, who also picked up the club’s Gold Award for being the Giants’ best back, statistics-wise, during the course of the season.

“When I found out I’d won the Gold Award that really took me by surprise, and it also never crossed my mind I’d be in the Opta Team.

“And I’m now apparently in the running for a place in the Super League Dream Team.

“That would obviously be great, but it’s definitely not my top priority right now.

“What I want more than anything is for us to back up our Super League Leaders Shield success with victory in the Grand Final. That’s my sole focus.”

And Cudjoe also admits that whatever awards he picks up, it probably won’t be until the end of his career when he reflects on his achievements.

“Playing and winning with the Giants, winning trophies and playing for England is absolutely amazing,” he added.

“But I’m not ready to sit back and reflect on what I’ve done in my career just yet. There’s still plenty more I want to achieve in the game.”
