HUDDERSFIELD Giants' Junior Academy side are about to make history.

On Sunday, the club's Under 18s team will take on London in the first curtain-raiser to be staged at the Broncos' Griffin Park base (12.45).

The match is the two clubs' opening First Division fixture, with hopes high that the Giants will get off to a winning start.

But Giants football manager Stuart Sheard admits the fact the youngsters are to play on the Brentford FC pitch is the main attraction this weekend.

"They were delighted when they heard the news," said Sheard.

"It's not every day they get the chance to play at a Super League ground, so Sunday means a lot to them.

"There is a downside in that the coach down to the match sets off from Huddersfield at six in the morning!

"But I think that's a price they are prepared to pay in order to compete at a top-flight venue."

The game is even more special for two of the team, who will be making their debuts.

Forward Chris Lawson and outside back Luke George have been named on the bench after becoming the club's latest Academy signings.

Junior Academy: Hull; Garside, Knight, Robinson, Sutherland; Simpson, Hawkyard; Southwell, Tillotson, Wilkinson, Watson, Clarke, Clare. Subs: Lawson, George (S), Hird, George (L).
