Huddersfield Giants ' rising stars will have the first chance to impress in the club’s pre-season trial games.

Head coach Paul Anderson has revealed younger members of his Super League squad will take centre stage in the opening warm-up clash at Championship club Halifax on Sunday, January 10.

The Huddersfield chief will then field a stronger-looking side for the clash at Hull KR seven days later before potentially unleashing a full-strength line-up for the final pre-season clash at home to Catalans Dragons on Saturday, January 23.

“Getting that game at home to Catalans is important for a number of reasons,” said Anderson.

“Obviously, it’s the chance to play a very strong side just a couple of weeks before the start of the season and give our new blokes, Ryan Hinchcliffe and Sam Rapira, the chance to get used to the John Smith’s Stadium.

“But the extra game also means we can give some of the younger end of the squad the chance to play at Halifax. That wouldn’t have been the case if we’d been restricted to the two trials.

“I’ve been very encouraged with the work some of the young blokes have ben putting in during pre-season and I’m looking forward to seeing them take that into the game at The Shay.”
