CHRIS BEEVER returns to the fray tomorrow as YMCA go hunting their first League victory of the season when they entertain North Ribblesdale at Laund Hill (3.00).

And despite being without a victory to their name since being promoted to Yorkshire I, Damon Scholes’ side will go into the game with plenty of confidence following their best performance of the season last week, which saw them agonisingly miss out on winning points at Scarborough.

Flying winger Beever has been impressing in the Seconds after recovering from a hernia operation, and he is eager to make his seasonal debut in the first team.

And with centre Ed Barber now back in full flow (he scored 29 of his side’s 34 points last week), Beever’s return should further boost YM’s hopes of clinching that first victory.

On top of that, speedy flanker Sam Hodge is recalled to the pack, which should also improve YM’s chances at the breakdown.

The selectors have also gone for power on the bench with prop Lawrence Sanderson starting alongside Ben Hill and Niall Murphy as they try to combat what they expect will be a big, muscular North Ribblesdale pack.

Another player making his full debut is Bobby Bahadori, who takes over at full-back from Lloyd Bentley who suffered a shoulder injury last week at Scarborough.

“It was our best performance of the season so far last week,” said coach Jody Shaw.

“And riding on the back of that, we’ll be going into tomorrow’s game in confident mood and trying our hardest to get that first win under our belts to really kick-start our season.

“We are now getting players back, and finally have competition for places, with players like Josh Marshall and Stuart Morton having to take a spell in the Seconds this week.
