PRODIGIOUS try-scorer Adam Ryder returns to the Huddersfield RU line-up after an outstanding season with the Underbank RL side for tomorrow’s visit to Kendal (3.00).

However, the free-scoring winger who played a key role in Underbank lifting the Co-operative Conference National Grand Final title at Warrington last week, will have to wait his turn on the bench as coach Dan Hyde keeps faith with the back division who just went down by a solitary point to Caldy last week.

The head coach has had to make one enforced change, however, with Ben Hoyle rested after suffering a smashed nose last week, and in his place comes Francis Entressengle, who is normally a hooker, but can also play at wing forward.

“Although Ben reckoned he was fit to play, we decided to rest him and give his nose chance to recover,” said Hyde.

“Kendal is always a difficult place to go, and we only just pipped them by four points last season at their place.

“So tomorrow we are bringing in Franny at wing forward, where he can be a very destructive player, particularly in the areas of contact around the rucks and scrums.

“Normally Franny’s choice position is at hooker, but we have a plethora of hookers, with Ben Morrill playing so well there at the moment, and with James Davies and Adam Lancaster also there in the wings.

“Tomorrow will be a test of our mental approach, but we have to remain confident that we can come away with a result, and then enjoy our return journey.”
