BUOYED by victory over Cleckheaton in the Yorkshire Cup quarter-final, Huddersfield go into tomorrow’s National III North clash against second-placed Fylde in confident mood.
They went down 35-18 at Fylde first up this season, when coach Mark Sowerby described his side as ‘a bit like rabbits caught in the headlights,’ but have since improved, playing reasonably well in their last League run-out when they scored 22 points against leaders Nuneaton.
Young centre Matt Clarke is now making his presence felt, and scored four fabulous tries in the Cup clash at Cleckheaton.
The final score was 59-12 to Huddersfield, with other tries coming from Chris Johnson (2), Mark Whitehead (2), George Hinchliff and seven conversions from Johnson.
They now play Leeds Carnegie (for the third season in a row) in the semis, next Tuesday, at West Park Bramhope.
Before then Sowerby sends out an almost full-strength side tomorrow.
