Upbeat Huddersfield coach Gareth Lewis is backing his pack to lead his side to National II North success at Harrogate tomorrow.

The men from Lockwood Park ended a three-game losing run with their excellent 26-19 home triumph over in-form Sandal the last time out.

At the heart of that morale-boosting win was a dominant pack display, which enabled the backs to finish the job off.

And Lewis is looking to his pack to at least maintain that standard with this weekend’s trip to North Yorkshire.

“On their day, I’d back our forwards to match almost any team in the competition,” said Lewis, who hailed a man-of-the-match performance from prop Laurence Sanderson in the success over Sandal.

“Sandal came to us in great form after an unbeaten start to the season, but they couldn’t match us in the middle.

“We won that battle hands down, and that made it so much easier for the backs to finish them off.

“After losing three games on the trot, several questions were starting to be asked about this side.

“But all these were answered in that performance against Sandal, and now we’re looking forward to building on that at Harrogate this weekend.

“You could tell at training this week how all the self-belief has returned.”

The only change to the triumphant side is centre Elliot Hodgson, who is unavailable.

In his place will be Tom Hodson, who made an immediate impact last week after returning to the club following a winter spell with Doncaster RL.

There will also be a start on the wing for new signing Tom Kanouras, who’s already making a very positive impact following his arrival from Bradford and Bingley.
