Huddersfield Under 13s secured a hard-fought 5-0 victory against well-organised Middlesbrough in a rugby union match hampered by bad weather.

The only score of the game came from Huddersfield No8 Leighton Davies on 20 minutes, who broke numerous Middlesbrough tackles while driving his way to the line.

The score proved to be the highlight in a match which turned into a dogged affair, with both teams playing tight to the ruck in an attempt to counter deteriorating playing conditions.

Middlesbrough began the first half the stronger team, securing dominance at break down and forcing Huddersfield to play on the back foot.

Huddersfield’s awakening in the first half was sparked by James Hinchcliffe who, with some hard tackling and steals at the ruck, got Field going ahead of the score.

In the second half, playing conditions were hampered by extremely high winds and rain and Middlesbrough had the bulk of pressure.
