Huddersfield are looking for a third successive victory and top spot in the National III North when they welcome fellow unbeaten side Burnage to Lockwood Park tomorrow.

The match (3.00) pits the division’s second and third-placed teams against each other and, even at this early stage, the result could prove to be an indicator as to where both clubs stand in their pursuit of success.

Although Huddersfield have started well, first-team manager Lee Paxman is taking nothing for granted.

“We expect this to be a real test. Burnage have a strong squad and this will be a challenge for our team,” said Paxman.

Huddersfield, who are giving free admission to Under 16s, have been forced into making three changes due to injuries following last week’s physical encounter with rivals Bradford & Bingley.

Vice-captain Alex Battye replaces prop Laurence Sanderson while Adam Sutcliffe has been promoted from the Falcons and replaces Giles Hetherington on the bench.

Sutcliffe secured his place with a fine performance against the Bradford Seconds, in which he scored four tries.

Gareth Lewis (namesake of the first-team coach) is also called up to the squad and will make his debut from the bench. Lewis is a new signing, joining from Ergemont after previously playing for Newcastle Falcons’ Academy.

“This strength in depth will be key for us throughout the season and we are excited to give chances to players who really perform for the Falcons,” added Paxman.

The Falcons, meanwhile, travel to Huddersfield YMCA (3.00). Talented George Hunt makes his debut for a strong Falcons side.
