Tom Kanouras is recalled to the wing as Huddersfield Rugby Union Club look to put successive defeats behind them against Chester at Lockwood Park.

And coach Gareth Lewis makes a couple of other key switches, too, for the National II North fixture, with Lewis Bradley making a first start at hooker and Nick Rawsthorne moving to his preferred position of full-back in place of Lewis Workman.

Lewis hopes Kanouras – an excellent footballer and good communicator – will provide a different type of attacking threat, while Bradley made an impressive impact off the bench in the 32-15 defeat at Sedgeley Park last week and takes the place of Henry Walker.

“Last week’s first half was very encouraging and we showed we can compete with the top sides in the league,” said Lewis.

“There were signs that we are starting to click, without question.

“This week the boys seemed to have really pulled together as a group and shown they are fully committed to the cause.”

Huddersfield are looking for a first win since the 27-23 home success against sixth-placed Leicester Lions on October 17, which has been followed by a nine-point home defeat to Stourbridge and that result at Sedgeley Park.

Huddersfield are third from bottom of the table, while Chester are fifth.

“Chester will be another touch challenge,” warned Lewis.

“They are a similar side to last season in terms of personnel, so we expect them to be quite ambitious in their style of play.

“They also have an excellent goal kicker, so we must be disciplined when they have possession.”
