HUDDERSFIELD'S Joe Quinn has been picked for England.

The rising rugby union star has been named in the full England Under 16s squad for this spring's Home Nations competition.

The 16-year-old back-row forward (right) who captains the Lockwood Park club's age group side, was given the nod after impressing for the England Under 16 Development squad.

Quinn follows in the footsteps of club colleague Luther Burrell, who played for England at the same level last season.

And the Huddersfield club are delighted another of their juniors has gained national recognition.

"We couldn't be happier, it's fantastic news," said Huddersfield general manager Hamish Pratt.

"We're proud of the development system at Lockwood and there's no better endorsement than having one of our youngsters picked for England.

"Obviously, we've known about Joe's potential for some time, and it's great that it has now earned him national recognition.

"There's no doubt he will do a great job for England. As a club, we couldn't be prouder."

Quinn arrived at Huddersfield and joined the Under 12s when elder brother Chris moved to Lockwood Park as first team fly-half after a spell at YMCA.

The 6ft3in, 15½st 16-year-old is already the established Yorkshire captain for his age group.
