THERE will be no action on Lockwood Park’s snow covered pitch tomorrow as Huddersfield face a second successive blank weekend on the playing front.

There will however be some action in the Waterloo Suite, where the club are holding one of their re-union lunches for former players.

The expected weekend thaw is set to come too late to enable Huddersfield to play their National Two North fixture against Sheffield Tigers, so head coach Dan Hyde will now be looking ahead to the following week’s clash at second placed Hull Ionians.

The Huddersfield boss is planning to get the squad together for a gym session, followed by some technical and video work (and probably a bit of bonding).

“It is very frustrating,” said Hyde.

“We were starting to put things together against Otley and Leicester Lions, and even against League leaders Stourbridge we showed signs of competing with the best team in the division.

“So to have another game called off is just a bit more uncontrollable disruption to our season that we could have done without.”

YMCA are due to entertain Barnsley at Laund Hill tomorrow, but with at least six inches of snow on the Salendine Nook ground (and with more forecast tonight) the chance of the game going ahead is virtually nil.

So, as with last week, coaches Damon Scholes and Jody Shaw are planning another indoor training session at the Sports Barn on Leeds Road tomorrow afternoon.

“We had an indoor session earlier this week and, with the state of the field, we are planning on another tomorrow at the Barn,” said Shaw.

“Obviously we want to keep the team together as much as possible during this weather, but although the facilities down at Leeds Road are great, there is limited space available and we really need to get outside again as soon as possible.”
