Old Rishworthians produced a display of quality rugby scoring four tries to gain a bonus point and move up to fifth in Yorkshire II as they won 31-7 at Ripon. Right wing Joe Billing scored 21 points, including two tries, and started his tally early in the game with a penalty.On a heavy pitch Rishworthians were not afraid to run the ball and got their reward after 25 minutes.

From a break by player coach Damian Ball, left wing Anthony Shoesmith off-loaded the ball to Billing who dived over in the corner.

There was more good handling by centre Matthew Hunt-Brown before full-back Taniela Bakoso passed to lock Nick Faulkner who scored to make it 13-0 to the visitors.

Ripon came back and from a scum moved the ball to the left to put winger Ben Buckley in for a converted try.

Back rowers Andy Shickell and Chris Dyson were thorns in Ripon’s side throughout the game and pressure brought another penalty for Billing to make it 16 - 7 at half-time.The second half produced more running rugby and Ball, centre Kurt Sutcliffe and Shoesmith created gaps for Billing to score his second try which he converted.

Ball was shoulder-charged in the home 22 to prevent a try – the referee red-carded the home centre and Billing kicked the penalty.

Danny Hoyle came on and made his presence felt tackling and handling well. The forwards started to gain more momentum and a strong rolling maul brought a scrum and a pick and drive enabled Fraser Swarbrooke to score the bonus point try.
