OLD Rishworthians opened up a 15 point gap at the head of Yorkshire III following their 38-20 victory over at Goole.

The home side took an early lead with a penalty and Rishworthians had to defend for much of the first half, although they did make good use of what little ball they had.

Aaron Cannin levelled with a penalty and then put lock Harry Collett through, who in turn gave a try-scoring pass to Billing.

Goole hit back with a try and a penalty, while Cannin struck his second three-pointer to leave his side trailing 13-11 at the break.

Jioti Bakoso and James Clarke came on in the second half as Rishworthians began to take control as Chris Dyson and Jamie Bloem set up Billing’s second try, converted by Canning.

The full-back added another penalty before player-coach Damian Ball and centre Kurt Sutcliffe combined for the latter to score.

Luke Flanagan completed the visitors’ scoring when he raced half the length of the field to touch down for an unconverted try.

In Yorkshire IV Halifax suffered a setback at home as they were beaten 25-17 by second in the table Old Otliensians, while Halifax Vandals were beaten on their travels 14-3 at Ossett.
