YMCA coach Jody Shaw is demanding more of the same when his side tackle struggling Knottingley at Laund Hill tomorrow.

Last week YMCA topped the half-century mark with an eight-try haul at Heath (seven of which were converted by Gavin Stead), and Shaw wants a repeat showing against the Yorkshire I basement club (2.15).

The only change in the side from the one which hammered Heath 57-14 comes in the front row, where Josh Wrafter is unavailable due to work commitments, and Will Sellars comes in after some useful performances in the Seconds.

Sellars has had limited game time over the last three seasons, following an horrendous knee injury which kept him out for much of that time. But since his return to action this season he has been playing well in the Seconds and now gets his chance of a starting spot in the First team.

“We are trying to retain consistency in the team, because each game they play together the better they become,” said Shaw.

“Last week was one of our strongest performances of the season. The forwards were immense, especially flanker Josh Lumb, which in turn allowed the backs the time and space to perform.

“We know that when we play to our potential we are a handful, but it’s going out there and doing it on every Saturday.

“On paper Knottingley are a team who are struggling, but they have had some better results recently, and we know from experience that any one side can beat any other in this division, so we need to retain our focus and perform like we did against Heath.”

Shaw has named half a dozen players on the bench, but will select three prior to what is YM’s final game before a three-week break for Christmas and the New Year.
