Huddersfield coach Gareth Lewis believes his club’s break has come at just the right time.

The Lockwood Park side have taken the start of 2015 by storm, having won seven of their eight National II North fixtures.

Their latest success was a 26-11 home triumph over Stockport to strengthen their eighth spot in the League table.

But even though the men from Lockwood Park are on a roll and have winning momentum firmly behind them, Lewis thinks a free weekend will do his upbeat squad a power of good.

“Even though we’re going so well, I do believe the boys will benefit from a break,” said Lewis.

“Because our form this year has been so good, you can understand why some of the boys would like to carry on playing.

“But we’re getting towards the end of the season and this weekend off is the chance for everyone to freshen themselves up, both mentally and physically.

“It’s all about recharging our batteries for the last six games of the season and making sure we maintain our winning run.

“The first game we face after the break is a trip to leaders Ampthill, and it’d be great to go there firing on all cylinders.”
