There's a tasty Premier League game at Goodison Park tonight.

Everton host West Bromwich Albion in a game given extra spice by the recent arrival of Tony Pulis at The Hawthorns.

Pulis did the business both at Stoke City and Crystal Palace.

That suggests he can get Albion out of the mire.

Everton go into the game just a point above their visitors.

Roberto Martinez did a great job last season.

A fifth-placed finish kept up the excellent standard set by David Moyes over a long period of time.

And it meant Everton made this season’s Europa League.

They remain in that competition, with a two-legged tussle with the Young Boys of Switzerland coming up.

But their league form has dipped dramatically.

They’ve not won in five, and the first four of that sequence were all losses.

I’ve also seen a stat saying only Swansea City have dropped more points from winning positions in the Premer League this season.

That’s left the Toffees in a sticky situation, the fans nervous, and Martinez facing a major test of his management skills.

It’s hard to imagine a great venue like Goodison not hosting top-flight football.

But it will be a possibility is this run of form carries on.

Pulis engineered a vital win over Hull City last time out and will have had that bit more time to work with his players, so Everton face a real test.
