It's one of the two days of the year Jim White loves most.

After weeks of transfers and talking about transfers, the latest window shuts at 11.00 tonight.

Fans up and down the country will be eagerly looking at television and Twitter to see whether their clubs are involved, who might be coming in and who might be leaving.

The the debate will start all over again!

We did some business last week, with left-back Jack Robinson arriving on a season-long loan from QPR.

He must have been in a bit of a daze, having headed to London on Wednesday to sort out his move from Liverpool, come to Huddersfield on Thursday to complete the loan, then gone with the lads to Watford on Friday.

That’s quite a few miles, but small fry compared to this week, when he heads off with England Under 21s for games over in Lithuania and Moldova.

The fact we’re talking England Under 21 shows the kind of quality Jack brings.

He will have been very well schooled at Liverpool, coming through a renowned academy system.

And he has had plenty of previous experience of the Championship through his loan spells at Wolves and Blackpool, when he played against us.

People might see it as being strange that he was signed at a time when the club are seeking a new manager.

But from what I understand, we have been on his trail for quite a while.

The way football works these days, the mechanics of a move don’t usually involve managers.

Football finances are quite complex, and it makes sense to have an expert in that field at a club to avoid any pitfalls.

Having identified a list of potential targets, the manager is then left to manage, a big enough task on its own, rather than having to field phone calls from agents and sort out the fine details of players’ contracts.

Mark Lillis said last week that in his opinion, we need to bring in a centre-half and another striker.

We’ll have to wait and see if either arrive today, and don’t forget, the loan window opens for Football League clubs in another week.

That’s a big plus as the search for a new manager continues, because it’s clearly not a decision to rush.
