Huddersfield Town fans can look forward to 2016 as a year of opportunity.

It’s amazing how, when things are positive around a club, the attitude of the supporters becomes so much different and optimistic.

Just take a look at Manchester United and Liverpool right now.

You are talking about clubs in fifth and ninth positions in the Premier League with similar results and only six points between them, but anybody who watched their match at Anfield will still be wondering how United managed to steal three points.

But, and this is a massive but, if you are a United fan everything is doom and gloom at the moment, whereas at Liverpool there’s an energy and excitement and everything is looking up.

That’s because they have a new and progressive manager who is doing different things.

It’s purely down to the man in charge of the team – Jurgen Klopp.

Louis Van Gaal at United exudes negativity, whereas Klopp is at the complete opposite end of the spectrum, the most positive manager in the league.

Liverpool fans are excited about the future, and it seems much the same at Huddersfield Town.

I haven’t been over to any Town games since David Wagner took charge, but I have read all the reports and watched all the highlights and it really feels like the club have turned a corner.

Everything is positive. Players are playing with energy and enthusiasm and, thankfully, that has been turned into results.

Town now have 32 points and are eight away from the relegation dogfight, which feels so much better than having to scrap it out all the time.

The supporters are clearly looking forward to enjoying the rest of the season, rather than biting their nails, and hopefully there will be opportunity for more youngsters to come through from Mark Lillis’s Academy.

They, along with any more signings Wagner can bring in, can then hopefully provide the basis for Town to push towards the play-off places next season.

Attitude of mind is crucial in everything, not just in football or in sport, but in business and personal lives as well.

When it comes to the ‘positivity curve’, Town fans must feel they are heading in the right direction.
