I have talked before about how the second international break has become a ‘silly season’ for managerial changes.

Our odds compilers at Skybet have had their work cut out to keep up, so I thought I would have a look at the list of changes in what people often call the ‘sack race’.

Incredibly, including the three departures at Watford, there have been 18 managers who have left their clubs this season so far.

Considering we are only in the opening few months of the campaign, that’s a massive amount.

Imagine running a business where you are completely happy with your staff and your business plan and then, two months later, it’s all gone out of the window.

It doesn’t make sense, to be perfectly honest, but I’m afraid that’s the world we live in.

The first of those departures, of course, was Mark Robins from Town after their opening-day defeat to Bournemouth at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Mark is now back in business at Scunthorpe, who play Colchester at Glanford Park on Saturday, and I’m sure everyone will join me in wishing him well.

Whenever I’ve spoken to people in the game about Mark – and this is still true about people at Town – no-one has a bad word to say about him and they all say he’s a decent guy.

I heard Mark speak about the challenge at Scunthorpe, one he is looking forward to taking on, and it’s clear he is back doing something he loves.

While he has moved on, so have Town, and it’s tremendous to see the results improving now under Chris Powell. Let’s hope that continues against Blackpool on Saturday and they can make it 10 points out of 12 before tackling Brighton at home next Tuesday.
