Huddersfield Giants stand on the threshold of a first ‘championship’ finish for 81 years, has it been tough to make the build up to Sunday’s home meeting with Wakefield, when a win earns the Super League Shield, ‘business as usual’?

Not really because we don’t achieve anything without getting the two points.

If we start talking about silverware and make the mistake of looking at the bigger picture then Wakefield will come here and beat us.

What we have done is to focus on what we have to do, which is get two points, and then we can take another look at the competition from there.

However, we have an honours board in our gym and we are desperate to put something on it – the last time something really meaningful went on there was quite a long time ago.

Wakefield will certainly not be turning up to give the Giants an easy ride?

Wakefield have not been blown away by anyone this season.

They are a competitive team who work hard for one another and that’s all we need to know because I am sure Wakefield will be looking to win the game.

But if we keep doing the things we have been doing then we can achieve something.

Right now we have got the most points in the competition, and we have the best record of any Giants side in the competition.

And no other Giants team has gone into the last two games top of the table.

We have talked all along this year about writing our own story and making our own history and that is what we are trying to do.

Has the break for the Challenge Cup actually been a change of scene and a real rest?

It has been a break really, and I think that every team other than Hull FC and Wigan will have used it as such.

If you look at the games in the last round of Super League I thought that they were all very poor and you got the feeling that everyone was looking towards the Challenge Cup as a week off.

From our point of view in general terms we have done a bit of training and we have had some time off.

But now we are back to training it is full-time up to the game.

However, we have been training according to what the squad needs and all I can say is that everyone is available for selection this weekend.

It would be great to have as many Giants fans at the Wakefield game as possible given what is at stake?

It would be very nice to see the ground full and if people want to come and see a winning team, and a consistent team, then they should come and watch the Giants because that is what we have been this season.

I do hope people come out to watch us and support the club and the team, because that will help the club in so many other areas.

The more people come and then the more money we will have to develop the club.

But I can’t go round town asking people to come to the games, all I can do is to try and give people something attractive to watch.

And I feel that this season we have given people a very good brand of rugby all year.
