Hi, it’s Eorl here.

You may know me. I’m the Huddersfield Giants player with the wicked side-step and eye for the tryline.

I can obviously say this after the events of our last three games.

During that time I’ve crossed for two tries. I set the ball rolling by crashing over from close range in our win at Leeds before dancing my way over for another crucial score at Hull KR last time out.

The way I stepped through to score against the Robins may have taken some by surprise.

But it’s something I’ve always possessed in my locker. It’s just a case of only getting it out for special occasions!

Unfortunately, it could be a while before I come up with my party trick once again.

That’s because the boys have really been hammering me over it this week.

The stick I got during the match review was relentless. There were applause from everyone when we watched the try back, but it was clear they were mickey-taking claps.

On top of that, there were comments about me having to use a side-step because I was too scared to run straight into an opponent or I only did it because I was a show-off!

I obviously played along and let the boys have their fun.

But I knew the real reason why they reacted the way they did was down to the fact they were all jealous of me. They all wished they had a side-step as good as mine!

And my stepping skills really shouldn’t have taken them by that much of a surprise.

I’m sure a number of you can remember just over a decade ago when the Giants had that one promotion-winning season in the then Northern Ford Premiership.

I played the entire season at centre, and it was then that I really honed my elusive attacking skills – skills which I still show off when necessary in Super League.

Having said that, I know I do have more important roles to fulfill for the Giants in 2014.

I’m the first to acknowledge the tries are a bonus for me, although Larne Patrick and myself are involved in a personal duel to beat each other in the tryscoring stakes.

My main role will always be to try and get us playing on the front foot and leading the way in the tackling stakes. In this respect, Bruno (Michael Lawrence) and myself are always challenging to be top dog.
