Hi it’s Luke here.

Well, I’m out of hospital, back home and looking forward to seeing the boys in action at home to Hull KR tomorrow.

It’s only just over a week since I underwent the surgery on my damaged hip, and the early signs are pretty promising.

The operation itself, last Thursday, lasted over four hours and the surgeon said he was pleased with the way it went, although it’s going to be a couple of weeks before he can say for sure whether it’s been a complete success.

But I am happy with the initial results, and within a day of the surgery I was able to do a bit of pedalling on a bike.

That pedalling is now getting stronger, and I’ve already started to do my rehab at the club. Being back with the boys has given me a huge lift, I can tell you.

However, the biggest tonic I could get would be to see the boys beat Hull KR this weekend, which is something I’m confident they can do.

I was able to watch last week’s game at Leeds in hospital on ‘SkyGo’ on my mobile phone, and I thought they were very unlucky not to get something out of the game.

In the end, it was Leeds who were able to ‘win ugly’, which is something the established top sides seem able to do. Wigan did exactly the same to us a couple of weeks earlier.

And, hopefully, we’ll develop that same trait some time in the future.

Even when teams like Leeds and Wigan have a load of injuries, they still seem to be able to field a side capable of finding a way to win.

We’re certainly getting closer to achieving that, and being forced to ‘blood’ all these young players at the moment will definitely help in that process. The quality of the young lads coming through at the Giants is improving all the time.

But while I enjoy seeing these ‘rising stars’ getting their chance, I am delighted to know the likes of Eorl Crabtree, Joe Wardle and Kyle Wood are back in the frame following injury.

It’s also good to see Jordan Tansey joining on loan, because the more experienced players you can get in your squad, the better.

With players like this to bolster the team and gives us extra options, we can now almost taste that first Giants win in 2016.

Finally, while I was in hospital, I was able to get some more of my testimonial stuff sorted out.

Plans for the opening event at Cedar Court are going well, while I’m already looking at a ladies night and sporstman’s dinner later in the year.

Doing all this is certainly helping to eep me out of mischief!
