I would like to join everyone else in wishing Mark Hudson all the very best in his role as Town captain.

He has taken over the armband from Lee Peltier, who showed his class by immediately congratulating Huddy and pledging his full backing to the cause.

We are lucky to have players of such calibre on the books, and both Pelts and Huddy will be aiming to play a full part in helping us climb the Championship standings.

Huddy has captained in the last few matches and shown himself to be a natural leader – both on and off the pitch.

He is a strong character at the heart of defence and he will direct operations, knowing exactly what he wants.

He has the respect of the whole squad, of course, and I have no doubt he will do an excellent job.

Changing the subject, I am looking forward to watching Manchester United taking on West Brom at The Hawthorns tonight.

United and Louis Van Gaal have been taking a lot of stick this season, but they are still going well at the top end of the Premier League and I reckon they are going to be great entertainment to watch as the campaign unfolds.

United look like they are going to score a lot of goals this season, but they are also going to concede plenty, so there is never likely to be a dull moment in any of their games.

West Brom could draw level on points with United with a win, too, so I would expect they will be going strongly for the points.
