The knee injury sustained by Kyle Wood comes as a big blow as he will miss the rest of the season, it is a galling turn of events for both player and club?

Once Woody was scanned it was not good news and he has suffered a rupture of his anterior cruciate ligament, so it will be January before we see Kyle anywhere near a field again.

It is sad as the season is ended for him, and he has been great for us in recent weeks, but on a positive front it will give him a long build for next season.

We will rally round him, and he will be able to do a lot of work and make sure he comes back right.

I can tell you that from my own experiences it is not all bad.

I did my cruciate back in 1998 but in the following year I was selected for Great Britain and went on tour.

It is true that they can rebuild you – just like Steve Austin!

Aside from the injury, there seemed to be a lot of positives to be taken from the 38-16 win over Catalan Dragons?

Most definitely, we got a lot out of a game against a very good and very physical Catalan team.

It was probably our most complete performance for a long time and that was very pleasing.

What it should do is give us some confidence going into the Wakefield game.

Wakefield will themselves be going into the derby with confidence after their 40-26 win at Warrington, are you surprised by their recent rejuvenation?

It doesn’t matter who you are, if you can find some confidence and momentum that is all it needs.

Earlier in the season we lost four straight games, but then followed that with nine wins in 10 or 11 games, so it is all about having that confidence in your abilities – and that can make any team a danger to anyone.

But Wakefield have got some good players and they have got those players playing well for the team – and that is the key.

After the Wakefield game there is a weekend off due to the Challenge Cup semi-finals, is it good to get a break at this stage in the season?

To be honest I would rather have been playing in a Challenge Cup semi-final, but unfortunately that wasn’t to be the case.

We just have to get on with it, but we have got a few knocks at the moment and after we have got the Wakefield match out of the way we can get a break.

I think this time round we will use it to get some rest and maybe take a couple of days off.
