Huddersfield Gladiators Boxing Academy are set to round off the season with a bang.

Their final show of the campaign at Huddersfield Sports Centre on Saturday, May 10, is topped by a Yorkshire title contest at 72kg between two Huddersfield fighters, Nick Hylton (Gladiators) and Vinnie Atkins (Halifax).

This is an eagerly-anticipated showdown between two very talented exponents.

Sponsor Wayne Carmichael is backing the other two bouts with belts at stake, with Gladiators’ Jack Hirst taking part in the junior final and Marvan Ibrahim in the senior version.

Making a guest appearance to present the trophies on the night will be new English light-welterweight champion Tyrone Nurse.

It is expected the show will feature 18 bouts and the doors will open at 7pm, one hour before the boxing starts.

Gladiators coach Dennis Doyle said: “It should be a cracking night of boxing and we would welcome as much support as possible.

“Also, organising events such as this comes at great cost and we would like to appeal to anyone interested in sponsoring a bout or the boxers to get in touch.”
