Tim Taylor scored a fantastic double century as Honley booked their place in the second round of the All Rounder Cricket Sykes Cup.

The Holme Valley side have lost all three Drakes Premiership matches so far, but they rattled off an impressive Cup win against Cedar Court Conference visitors Almondbury Wesleyans.

Taylor was the star of the show, hitting 208 as Simon Kelly’s side put up a mammoth 415-4 at Far End Lane.

Eddie Wilson fell just three short of his century while Lewis Kenworthy finished on 56 not out.

Kiwi Jacob Gibson hit 53 in reply for the Wes, and Alex Taylor 44, but Kenworthy picked up four for 20 and Kelly three for 50 to help halt the reply at 147.

Denby hammered 352-4 against Cup holders Barkisland – and lost!

Bandula Don got Denby off to a rapid start with 69, while Farhan Hussain dug in for 79.

Harvey Jones and Qaiser Rashid hit 42 apiece but Denby got a tremendous late boost from a hard-hitting 82 not out from Adnan Ghani, which came in only nine overs.

Barkisland responded in fine style, however, with 133 from Zimbabwe signing Gary Chirimuuta, backed up by 69 from Jamie Summerscales and 78 from Alex Scholefield, and they went through with four wickets to spare.

Ben Raven-Hill cracked a tremendous 143 and overseas Brandon Mavuta 84 as Jedi Sports Championship side Thongsbridge knocked out top-flight Kirkburton.

Despite a four for 60 return from Burton skipper Craig Fletcher, Thongsbridge piled up 317-7 at Miry Lane, with Raven-Hill’s century coming off 116 deliveries and including 13 fours and two sixes.

When he was out, he’d faced 155 balls and hit 16 fours and three sixes, batting for 169 minutes.

Mavuta’s half century came off 42 balls in 48 minutes and included six fours and three sixes. He’d hit another three boundaries and two sixes by the time he was out.

The total proved too much for the visitors, despite a half century from Andrew Smith, which came off 69 balls in 72 minutes. He was eventually out for 56 off 78 balls, including nine fours and two sixes, and Kirkburton were sent back for 196, with Mavuta taking three for 44 and Ben Howitt four for 51.

Championship leaders Meltham also went through at the expense of a top-flight side in Elland – by just 11 runs.

Meltham totalled 183-9 thanks to 37 from Darren Hinchliffe and 47 from Henry Wise (Siraj Sajid took three for 51).

Ibrar Hussain and Muhammad Kashif then took four for 33 and three for 14 respectively as Elland got close at 172, but not close enough.

Liam Fletcher had 49 for Elland, while Alastair Finn struck 38 and Sam Midwood 34.

Broad Oak knocked off 234-9 at Rastrick to score a three-wicket win, while in the only all-Premiership tie, Hoylandswaine hammered 352-4 to beat Golcar.

Michael Cranmer was back in the groove with 103 at Haigh Lane, where Alex Morris hit 62, SP Singh 57 not out and Max Joice 65.

Golcar were all out for 234 in reply, with Niall Lockley hitting 86 and James Howson 52. Singh did the bulk of the damage with five for 51, while Iain Wardlaw collected three for 58.

Cawthorne knocked out Mirfield Parish Cavaliers, while Shepley beat Lepton.

There was no play between Delph and Marsden, who will play this coming Sunday, while at Scholes play will resume on Tuesday night with the home side chasing Cumberworth’s 128.
