family funThe Broadbent family from Paddock were chosen as Britain’s top cycling family in 1985. The family – Paul, Sandra and three-year-old twins Heather and Isobel – picked up the award at the Cycling Touring Club’s rally in York and then celebrated with a fortnight’s cycling tour which took in Scarborough, Whitby, Middlesbrough, Richmond, Swaledale and Keswick – a round trip of more than 200 miles. Paul had converted a pre-war tandem to carry the twins and even added a mini set of pedals so one of them could help out on the steepest gradients. tmc310712cycle.jpgRead
