'A dream come true' for Summer Wine devotee

A WOMAN who paid £14,000 to be an extra in the TV comedy series Last Of The Summer Wine has had her dream come true.

The staggering bid was made at an auction of Summer Wine memorabilia by widow Ann Bragg, of Northwood, Middlesex.

The auction took place at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, when the hit series was honoured by the British Comedy Society last October.

The auctioneer was Lord Archer and proceeds were in aid of the Macmillan Nurses Appeal.

Mrs Bragg, 67, who was joined by her sister-in-law, Karen Taylor, 43, said: ''We had an extremely enjoyable time. Although we couldn't take part in the filming because of bad weather, we spent a lot of time on location with the cast.

''The scenery was beautiful, and it brought back memories of when I was evacuated to Derbyshire during the Second World War.''

Summer Wine producer/director Alan Bell has invited Mrs Bragg to take part during indoor shoots at Pinewood.
