Summer Wine's Tom opens new day centre

Tom Owen and Granville Sutton

A new hospice day care service has just opened in the Holme Valley.

The extension to Elmwood Health Centre, Holmfirth, was opened by Last Of The Summer Wine actor Tom Owen.

Tom, the son of the late Bill Owen, who played Compo in the popular BBC TV comedy series, is pictured with Granville Sutton the chairman of Kirkwood Hospice, Dalton.

The new unit, which is affiliated to Kirkwood Hospice, will provide day care on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

It will also offer nursing and complementary therapies, as well as recreational and creative activities and breaks for carers.
