'TV pub' still up for sale

Ron and Ruth Backhouse who are leaving the White Horse at Jackson Bridge

A PUB made famous by the BBC television programme Last of the Summer Wine is still on the market.

Landlord Ron Backhouse and his wife Ruth are retiring from the White Horse, Jackson Bridge, after 21 years.

But almost two months after the pub went up for sale, there have been no firm takers.

Prospective buyers are being asked to pay £42,000 for the remaining seven years of a lease on the building.

Mrs Backhouse said there had been a couple of interested parties, but no firm offers at the moment.

She said the agents, Brownhill Vickers of Sheffield, were taking care of the sale of the lease.
