A PUB made famous by the BBC television programme Last Of The Summer Wine could soon have a new licensee.
Landlord Ron Backhouse and his wife Ruth are retiring from the White Horse pub at Jackson Bridge after 21 years.
A prospective buyer is now said to be very interested in taking on the remaining seven years of a lease on the building.
Mr Backhouse said: "We are extremely close, but I do not want to give any details until the deal is finalised.
"The prospective buyer is still checking some details, but is already buying new furniture.
"We are keeping our fingers crossed and may have more news in a week or so."
