Summer Wine `love mobile' for sale

A LARGE pink caravan featured in TV's Last Of The Summer Wine is for sale.

The "love mobile", an unusual prop from the hit comedy series, is being put up for sale worldwide for charity.

It will go under the hammer in an Internet auction.

The owner, the Prince of Wales Hospice, Pontefract, is offering the "love mobile" in return for a donation.

Summer Wine Online, a website run by enthusiasts in Holmfirth, is handling the bids.

Spokesman Patrick Brooke said: "Summer Wine Online attracts a lot of American fans, who are eager to buy products associated with the programme.

"We hope one may want to snap up the caravan.

"We are delighted to help this important charity by offering the caravan on our website.

"Of all the items offered before, this is certainly the most unusual," he added.

The "love mobile" was featured in a 1997 episode. The plot involved a dating agency which used the pink caravan to help match prospective partners.

TV bosses gave it to the hospice to help with fund- raising efforts. Now it is no longer roadworthy.

Full details of the unusual offer, plus photos of the "love mobile" with Summer Wine characters, can be viewed at www.summer-wine.com

Another item being offered on the website is a photo of Compo and Nora Batty, signed by Compo, to help a charity appeal.
