Stars of comedy brought to book

THEY are now regarded as national treasures.

As British as tea and buttered scones, or so the BBC would have us believe.

But certainly, the stars of the hit comedy Last Of the Summer Wine are familiar figures in millions of living rooms around the country.

And to coincide with the 30 years of the comedy series, the BBC have produced a new lavishly-illustrated book.

Morris Bright and Robert Ross have collaborated on the book, which features interviews with stars past and present, behind-the-scenes anecdotes and biographies of the actors. The book also includes scores of photographs from many of the show's hilarious episodes over the past 30 years.

The book, published today, includes interviews with stars including Peter Sallis, Brian Wilde, Michael Aldridge and Frank Thornton.

There is also a diary of a day's filming and a detailed guide to every epsiode from every series.
