`Nora' reopens charity shop

Actress Kathy Staff, alias Nora Batty from BBC television's Last Of The Summer Wine comedy series, abandoned her trademark wrinkled stockings and put on her best outfit to reopen the refurbished Oxfam shop in Brighouse.

The shop in Commercial Street has benefited from a facelift, with new carpets, wall coverings and fittings.

Members of the public flocked to meet Kathy, who is to return to Summer Wine after a brief spell away from the programme when she appeared in the soap Crossroads.

Among the visitors to the shop was a traffic warden, who was given a ticket signed by Kathy!

The actress spoke to the shop volunteers and signed autographs before making a few purchases.
