A night with the stars to finance film

AN ACTOR who appears in Last Of The Summer Wine is bidding to make a feature film set in Yorkshire.

Ken Kitson is attempting to get the project off the ground after writing the script for the romantic comedy western.

Stars and a director have already been earmarked.

Now the actor is doing the rounds to raise the cash for his dream to come true.

He is talking to possible financial backers - but in the meantime will stage a celebrity dinner auction in Huddersfield as one of his initial steps.

The auctioneer will be Geoffrey Hughes, whose roles include Eddie Yeats in Coronation Street, Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances and Twiggy in the Royle Family.

Ken - who has played one of the two policemen in Summer Wine for 23 years - told of his determination to make the film a reality.

He declared: "If anyone's going to do it, it will be me."

Memorabilia from the television, film and sporting world will go under the hammer at his dinner and auction.

It takes place at the Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top, on November 20.
