Mrs Simpson said: "I first came to do amateur photography because the scenery is so breathtaking.
"I stumbled upon the filming and I found out they were having the 30th anniversary celebrations, but I couldn't stay.
"So I decided I would have my own in the States."
What started as a casual idea quickly grew into a huge charity event once Mrs Simpson contacted the BBC to ask permission to use the sitcom's name.
The Summer Wine Gala Committee was formed and now 650 people are expected to attend the gala at the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas, on October 25.
Providing sponsorship can be found, stars of the show from in front of and behind the cameras including Ken Kitson, Alan J W Bell and Tom Owen, will attend.
The gala will feature a dinner and a programme of entertainment - which includes an exclusive USA first showing of the Last Post and Pigeon episode of Last of the Summer Wine on video.
Mrs Simpson said: "It is an honour for me to be involved with the gala. It is great to be involved with Holmfirth - everyone is so friendly and it is a beautiful place."
Proceeds from the event will be split between Kirkwood Hospice and the Arkansas Public Broadcasting Station.
The PBS stations are funded by public donations and grants and are the main USA source of English programmes.
