`New' village school is a star attraction

Parents were delighted with the transformation.

Mrs Jayne Clayton, whose children Jake, nine, and Demy, six, both attend the school, said: "It's lovely, but it has needed livening up and bringing in line with other schools.

"But Jake isn't in a new classroom so he isn't as impressed as Demy!"

Fiona Robinson's 10-year-old son James Atkinson is a pupil at the school, which was also attended by her grandparents, Jack and Doris Bramall.

She said: "It's fabulous. You can't tell it's actually new."

Nicola Eastwood, whose son Thomas, 11, is at the school and mother Lynda Swift, a former pupil, said the school roll was down to around 12 in 1978.

"Then they started building the new housing and numbers rose. I think the extension looks great," she said.

Chairman of governors Mrs Veronica High said the school now wanted to complete its revamp by creating a mezzanine floor above the school hall to create a new classroom.
