Actor, singer and comic dies, at 59

LAST Of The Summer Wine actor and comic Tony Capstick has died aged 59.

The entertainer, who was a policeman in Summer Wine and also had TV roles in Emmerdale and Coronation Street, collapsed at his home in South Yorkshire.

He had suffered from ill health, which had worsened since his departure from Radio Sheffield in January after more than 30 years.

A talented guitarist, his double-A-sided single Sheffield Grinder/Capstick Comes Home reached number three in the charts in 1981.

The BBC said he would be remembered with "warmth, gratitude and affection". "We are shocked and saddened," said a spokesman.
