Monster fun for 32nd year

POPULAR sitcom Last Of The Summer Wine hits screens next month for its 32nd year.

The BBC flagship comedy show, filmed in and around the Holme Valley, returns for another run on Sunday, February 8.

Series producer Alan Bell said previews at Teddington Studios earlier this month had record-breaking audiences.

"There were 420 in the audience at each show - a record - all of whom gave the series a thumbs up," he said.

In the first show in the latest series Barry, played by Mike Grady, has won a model dinosaur in a competition, but it turns out to be a near full-size figure. His wife Glenda orders him to get rid of the monstrosity.

Meanwhile Brian Murphy as Alvin has started prospecting for gold in local rivers, much to the disbelief of Nora Batty, played by Kathy Staff.

Brian is now firmly established as Alvin in the flat once occupied by Compo and being just as much an irritation to his neighbour Nora.

The show is due to be screened at 6.15pm.
