Huddersfield Examiner Charity Challenge

The Examiner Charity Challenge is set in Meltham in the Peak District and organised by the Huddersfield Lions. This was the 19th annual challenge event and gave people the chance to complete one of a variety of courses around the village for their chosen charity. There was a four or seven-mile walk, bike rides of eight, 16, 22 and 48 miles and a route for horse riders of about 12 miles. There was also a two-mile route at Blackmoorfoot reservoir for people with wheelchairs and pushchairs. More than 700 people had pre-registered for Sundays event. Hundreds more turned up at Meltham Sports and Community Centre on a sunny day to sign up. About 150 volunteers were there to make sure it went smoothly. And the event is believed to have raised nearly £40,000.
