THERE was a time when the first day of an Ashes test series would have dominated the back pages.

Just as Wimbledon did last week – and rightly so, by the way.

The British summer was a time to celebrate our national treasures Wimbledon, Lords, St Andrew’s, even Henley got a look in.

This week as England and Australia lock horns what are the tabloids focusing on?

Those great cricketing icons Cristiano Ronaldo, Michael Owen and John Terry.

Does the football season never end?
