Having covered my last match of last season on June 29, and being prepared for my first of next season any day now, there isn’t even a debate.

I do think the media could strike a better balance, however, and give other sports their time in the limelight at opportune moments.
It’s refreshing to see and talk about supreme talents like Roger Federer, Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods and Usain Bolt as an antidote from the relentless obsession with football.
The new season will be on us soon enough, let’s enjoy the transfer speculation but keep the seasons apart.
This week should be a time for focus on whether or not England can win back that little urn and next week’s back pages should be full of the contenders for golf’s claret jug at Turnberry.
