THE Government’s Equality and Human Rights Commission has told schools to ensure that pupils are “gender balanced”.
This means that boys will be encouraged to play netball and take dancing lessons and girls will study masculine subjects such as science.
What a load of nonsense.
Don’t get me wrong. I have nothing against any young chap wanting to be the next Billy Elliot but most lads prefer football. They make these decisions at an early age.
My daughter Siobhan bought our grandson Lorcan a toy kitchen for Christmas. Lorcan will be three in March.
Siobhan was attempting to widen his horizons and fudge the distinction between perceived sexual norms. She thought she might appeal to his feminine side.
So far Lorcan has totally ignored the kitchen and has opted to play with his train set and trucks in between bouts of rumbustious wrestling. “He certainly knows what boy’s toys are.”
