Denis Kilcommons:Carried away with my fence spray
Jul 6 2009 by Denis Kilcommons
“I’m backing Creosote in the National,” said Ian.
“Creosote?” said Carl, trying to find it amongst the list of runners.
“Aye. It’s good over fences.”
Carl thought this was so funny that he’d use it himself.
“I’m backing Creosote in the National,” he told Wacker later.
“Creosote?”
“Aye. It’s good on wood.”
A man of many attributes is Carl. But telling gags is not one of them.
The memory made me laugh, until the spray gun spluttered and died. More paint was needed.
I moved on to the decking at the side of the house and here the spray came into its own.
No crouching down with a brush and ricking my back. Instead, I stood there like a graduate of Hogwarts and waved my wand and behold! The world became cedar brown.
